Urban Policy Review

Write for us

Urban Policy Review welcomes pitches that help a general reader understand a distinct question about city policy and the places it shapes. A strong proposal is focused, well-informed and useful beyond a single news cycle.

What fits

We consider explanatory essays, comparisons, concise histories and reader-focused accounts of urban policy ideas. Topics might address housing, land use, transport, public space or governance, provided the piece has a clear scope and does not depend on professional advice or unverified claims.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the proposed subject, the central question, the reader the piece is for and what it will explain that a broad overview would miss. Include a working title and a short outline of the main points. Flag any place-specific or time-sensitive claims, and explain how you would handle uncertainty and context.

Send a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and including your pitch in the message. Unrequested complete articles are less useful than a focused proposal. Please do not include confidential information or material you do not have permission to share.

Our point of view

Policy becomes real at street level.

We connect the language of urban decisions to the places people move through. A useful explanation shows both what a policy aims to do and what choices remain open.
